CA “ black plates” ordered for Clifford (‘67 F-100) and the F31 (name still TBD). The truck demands them; it was a moral imperative . I didn’t want to be one of “those guys” who put black legacy plates on a modern car but ... I get it now. The white plates look horrible on the BMW. I officially apologize to everyone I’ve silently judged over the last year or so. You were right and I was wrong.

For the record, I like the way the legacy plate looks on the front of my ‘14 Focus ST, because the black plate sits in the middle of the large black grille and looks less jarring than the white plate did . On the back, I’m indifferent.

I love that you can do that. I have ‘61 plates on my ‘61 Ford, but I had to find them on ebay, then jump through some bureaucratic hoops at the DMV to be able to display them legally.

I haven’t been to the DMV with my 1950s commercial plates since the truck isn’t ready to inspect yet. Hopefully it isn’t a pain in the ass doing the year of manufacture application.

I haven’t tried to do my 52 plates yet, but CA has so many classics I can't believe they would give me any trouble. The ebay dealer gave me the paperwork with my purchase which was cool.

I was so confused trying to find 1952 plates. They used 1951 plates for a few years with tags. Also a pickup is commercial and they put COM on them unlike today. I highly recommend using a plate restorer dealer for that stuff since they know all the rules.

That’s awesome. Yeah, NH has some interesting things regarding antiques. They now of course started cracking down on people daily-driving 25+ year-old cars because God Forbid they save a couple bucks on registration and insurance and drive a cool old car at the same time . So now your ‘ Antique’ car has to be in “showroom or original or better condition” and be driven only to exhibitions, parades, etc. Bull****. But that’s what the law says.

What? That seems totally rediculous, forcing people into restoring in a way they may not want to. Never going to happen here!

Well, that’s what it says, but it’s not what actually happens. It’s very poorly written and thus unenforceable.

When my town office asked me if it was in ‘showroom condition’ I said, “I’ve never even been IN a car in showroom condition.”
